If you look online for weight loss and health information, right now, you’ll find a lot of information about the ketogenic diet.
Top Pentagon officials have researched how ketosis works, and they believe that the popular diet might be the key to military success for our country.
If you’re not already familiar with it, the ketogenic diet basically forces your body to use fat for energy instead of glucose (sugar).
Clearly, the ability to use fat in your diet when sugar sources are low is evolutionary. Nowadays, we have grocery stores, freezers, and refrigerators to help us store food.
But during our hunting and gathering days, we didn’t have all the appliances and convenience we have today.
Because of this, people are eating more and more sugar around the year instead of just during the warmer months. And this means that people are heavier and more sluggish) than they used to be
Top officials at the Pentagon would love to enhance the way men and women perform during wartime.
The Weird Thing Is…This Could Mean The End Of The Ketogenic Diet!
Right now, the political climate in America is miserable. I don’t even have to discuss candidates or politicians for you to know it’s the truth.
And while I don’t like to write political content as a health marketer, I’m an American too…and I think it’s appropriate to write to you about what the government is doing with the ketogenic diet.
Historically, while I do think our nation’s leaders mean well, there are just too many instances of bad behavior in our past.
From the first recorded “Thanksgiving” dinner and slavery to the Tuskegee syphilis experiment and testing psychedelic drugs on homeless people…our government has done a lot of wacky (and possibly evil) things in the name of science and research…
…which is why it worries me when the entire government shows an interest in just one style of eating.
Let’s Be Clear: I Think Keto Is Great!
But if I’m being honest about it, most of the people I know cycle in and out of ketosis.
The more I read about our soldiers having to do keto in order to perform well, the more I wonder if the government knows how to use the ketogenic diet in a life-friendly way.
Here’s how the diet works: Basically, you only eat foods with a very low glycemic index.
What that means is that the sugar content is low.
Animal protein, green leafy vegetables, peppers, broccoli, green beans, and asparagus are all low in sugar.
Avocadoes are great sources of fat and calories.
And you’ll need to eat fruit sparingly oh, and make sure you know exactly how much sugar you’re taking into your body everyday.
If you have too much glucose, your body will never go into ketosis.
But What Is Ketosis, Anyway??
Ketosis is the state your body goes into when it doesn’t have enough sugar floating around your bloodstream.
Not only do you need sugar for energy, but your brain needs it just to operate.
Back when we were hunters and gatherers, our bodies were accustomed to going without fruit during the winter.
The lack of sugar signaled that it was time to shift over into ketosis. Basically, what I’m trying to say is that ketosis keeps us alive when we don’t have access to all the food we need.
It is an emergency protocol designed to save our lives…
… so I am a little wary of anyone trying to use this diet as a full-time lifestyle. My concern is that military professionals will pay the price of research.
They will be the guinea pigs…and that is not fair or right!
Thankfully, I’m Not Alone In My Concern
Right now, people all around America are making their voices heard. If the government can dictate what its people can and cannot eat, we are headed into a world of trouble.
People with PTSD and other trauma field conditions are leaving the military in droves, and many of them have found their names listed in the halls of mass murderers.
Imagine how much worse it’ll be if our neighborhoods and streets are filled with killers who know exactly how to maintain their level of dangerousness.
It’s scary.
The thing is…in moderation, the ketogenic diet would be great for our military.
They will be faster on the ground, they’ll need less sleep, and those who dive will be able to stay underwater much longer and more safely.
If you use the ketogenic diet like a tool (and not the entire arsenal), I think it’ll work wonders for us.
Hopefully, military nutritionists and researchers will show military servicemen and women wow to cycle in and out of ketosis comfortably and safely if they continue on this track.
The Bottom Line? BALANCE!
Because the government has a history of making really bad decisions and not always being held accountable…I’m concerned that military servicemen and women on the Keto might get hurt, long term.
Agent Orange happened on our watch.
And so did lead poisoning on various military bases around the country.
I just hope the military does right by our servicemen and women and that their experience won’t mess it up for all of us who do Keto the right way.
Again, I love my country and I love my countrymen/women. I us want the people who fight for our freedom to be treated well…
…an I want the story that reaches the masses to be the truth.
The Ketogenic diet is incredible for weight loss, focus, toning, and improved energy levels.
But you’ve got to use it in moderation – maybe 6-8 weeks at a time with a one month break in between.
You have to find what works for you. Your diet can’t be rigid or else you might do your body harm.
But anyway…I’ve been following this story for a while now and wanted to share my thoughts.
I’m curious: What do you think of all this? Do you think the government should decide what servicemen and women can and can’t eat every day??
